Fist of all let me introduce you to the meaning and the story behind the word active x. Microsoft made this thing by using a specific routine known as COM routine. This is for software developers to use in different programs and piece of codes to run. This is particularly made for components that are made by Microsoft and can be used in modules or some other things like that so that you can get an easier access or an easier way to develop things.

These are just like components that are already installed with the active x controllers and when there is a call for such a component in some software or web page, it just shows that up right there where there is a need. This means that the office files are already installed and what you need is just a call for the office files to open that document.
