Windows Chkdsk Utility

If you are a frequent computer user you are probably well acquainted with errors and error messages. Chances are you have also experienced other types of problems such as problems booting or some other problem that can occur on your hard drive. The problem comes with regular use of your computer when you are uploading and downloading files. There are many things that can go wrong with your hard drive but this does not always have to spell gloom and doom.

Windows users have an added advantage since Microsoft has seen the need to provide a chkdsk utility to perform hard disk diagnostics. With this handy tool you can check your hard drive to find out if there are errors on your hard drive or maybe there are bad sectors on the hard drive that are preventing your system from working properly.

Windows XP is one of the versions that has the chkdsk utility feature. It will allow you to perform a quick scan or a more in-depth scan that does a more through check of your hard drive.

You can launch this chkdsk utility from Windows. All you have to do is open My Computer then right click on the hard drive you want to check. You will then select the properties tab which can be found in the tools tab. Then all you have to do is tell it to check now. You will have two choices to choose from. One will offer you the option to automatically fix file system errors and the other one will scan for and attempt to recover bad sectors on the drive. Once you tell Windows to perform the scan you will get a message telling you what errors, if any, were found.

Here is where you need to get a pen and paper. Unless you can screen print the results you will want to write down what errors pop up. This will be helpful in the future when you are attempting to repair those errors. You will also have this documentation to serve as back-up in case you need to take your computer in for repair.

It would be best if you ran a chkdsk for each drive. Your computer may have several drives and any one of them could be defective or be causing problems. The most common drive is C but there are other drives that serve to provide you with other functions.

Chkdsk utility is a great tool to use to try and diagnose hard drive problems. You may only think the problem is with your hard drive when in fact it is with a program or download. Finding out whether or not your hard drive has defects will help you determine what methods of repair you need to consider.

If you find that your hard drive has bad sectors it may be possible for you to fix those sectors by telling chkdsk to repair all errors it finds. This is certainly worth trying before you take your computer into the shop. Chances are you will be able to repair the damage at home without the added expense of a professional.

Fix Code 39 Errors in 10 Seconds

A code 39 error in windows xp and 2000 usually refers to the PC not being able to run a device properly. This can be the result of many reasons including major crashes, payware, corrupted drivers, updating your devices with improper drivers or corrupted drivers, etc. Regardless of this, you need to fix code 39 errors for all your devices or your PC performance will suffer… A LOT. If you are a gamer, you will see a dramatic drop in your FPS (frames per second), slow load times, or overheating etc. Either the device does not work at all or it will work but not function correctly and cause permanent hardware damage if left unfixed. Here is a quick way to fix code 39 errors if you do not have a backup cd, or restore cd or you can not get your manufacturer’s official drivers at the moment.

Go to device manager by right clicking on your “my computer” icon.

Go to properties.

Go to device manager.

Find the device with the small yellow flag (error code 39) next to the devices. Now right click on it and go to properties.

Go to the drivers tab.

Now press the “Roll back Driver” button.

Windows will use the last properly working driver for the device. The flag will be gone and the device should work properly now. A word of warning, this is only a temporary fix in my opinon. You should go the manufacturers site of the device and update the device with official drivers or obtain the recovery cd. If you don’t want to bother with this and just want it fixed once and for all go download Driver Detective here for a free scan to see they have the official drivers.

Code 19 Errors

Consider that you are working along on your computer and suddenly you encounter a Code 19 error. Now what do you do?

First you should understand what a Code 19 error really is. A Microsoft XP resource kit will tell you that this code means that your Windows will not start the hardware device because you do not have the right configuration. It may also mean that the registry is either incomplete or that it is damaged. This is a condition that might happen after you install and then uninstall devices or software when you are troubleshooting your computer’s problems. You can try to take your computer back to the previous state before you started getting the Code 19 error. Often this will solve your problem.

Most of the time the Code 19 error will appear after you have attempted to install a scanner. There are things you can do to make an attempt to provide a solution to this problem. First you should click on Start. After that you should right click My Computer. Here you will find Properties. Under the Properties tab you should click the Hardware tab.
After clicking on the Hardware tab you will then click on the Device Manager button in the Device Manager section.

When you are in the Device Manager section you should then look for the Imaging Devices. You may either see a + or – beside this section. The + will expand the list and the – will minimize the list. By clicking the + you should find your scanner name. Here you will be able to view that the device is either working correctly or you will see an Error Code 19. If you see the error code you should then launch your trouble shooting wizard to find the source of the problem. You will probably need to uninstall and then attempt to reinstall again. You may end up doing this several times before you get it correct. After each time you reinstall you will need to restart your computer to apply the process to your computer’s systems. If you keep getting the Code 19 error you will need to reset your computer back to the previous system restore point.

Anytime you get an error message on your computer it can be frustrating. Often the reason we get those messages is because we fail to exercise patience. You should take the time to read and understand all of the instructions before you attempt to make changes to your computer settings and programs. One wrong click can bury you in a sea of error messages that you may never be able to dig your way out of.

If you find that you have installed computer components and you are not able to resolve your computer’s issues at home you may need to seek out the services of a computer technician. The frustration that comes along with error messages can cause you to do even more harm than you already have. A technician can explain to you what you need to do and perhaps you can write down the steps so that you will avoid a future problem.

Fix Virus Infected PC

A virus is a harmful program that can damage files, cause computer crashes, or have a number of other negative effects on your computer. While nobody wants to get a virus on their PC, in many cases it’s possible to remove the virus and repair your computer with very little difficulty. You should be able to remove spyware, viruses, and other damaging software before they can cause additional problems and optimize your PC in order to prevent future infections.
One of the first things that you can do in order to get rid of viruses and remove adware or other harmful software is to use a virus scanner to perform a deep scan on your PC. This scan will search for any virus that may be on your computer in order to isolate the virus files so that they can be deleted. Similar software can be used to remove spyware or other malware, an important step as many of these malware programs can lead to further virus infections or PC damage.
It may require more than one virus and malware scan in order to remove spyware and viruses from your computer, since some of the virus files may not be able to be isolated on the first scan. Should the scan still not be able to isolate and remove the virus file, you may need to take your PC in to a computer repair specialist so that they may use more powerful virus removal tools which will be able to scan the computer for the virus files before the Windows drivers and other files that the virus may be attached to are loaded.
Catching a virus early can not only prevent crashes and other problems but will also save you from the file damage that viruses can cause. You may have to replace a few infected files if they are corrupted or otherwise damaged by the virus infection, but that’s much better than potentially having to replace your operating system because of a virus infection that got out of control.

Cure PC Crashes

While there are a number of things that you can do in order to speed up boot time on your PC, an unexpected computer crash can make the time it took you to optimize your PC wasted. In order to prevent crashes from ruining your computing experience and possibly damaging your computer, it’s important that you know what some of the most common causes for these PC crashes are. Here are the most common causes for PC crashes as well as what you can do to help avoid them.
One of the most common causes for PC crashes is power-related problems; this can take the form of either power failure or a power surge. While there isn’t much that you can do in regards to controlling the flow of power into your house, using a surge protector power strip can help to keep your PC safe from damage caused by power surges. An external universal power supply can also be useful, since it will give you a few minutes of power even in the event of total power failure so that you can shut down Windows properly and avoid potential damage to files, hard drives, and Windows drivers.
Other common causes of PC crashes include spyware, adware, and software virus infestation. Any of these programs can make your computer unstable, even if you’ve previously taken the time to optimize your PC. Scanning programs exist to detect and delete virus files as well as to remove adware, but you need to remember that regular scans are required to remove spyware and other dangerous programs.
Yet another common cause of PC crashes is software malfunction. In most cases a problem with Windows drivers or other critical software is resolved simply by rebooting your computer. Should the problems continue, they are easily corrected by simply reinstalling the driver or software suite that contains the malfunctioning program.
One last common cause of PC crashes is simply having an overheating processor or motherboard. This can cause your computer to run slowly even as you try to speed up your PC, and will generally result in crashes that give no warnings. If you suspect that your computer is overheating, make sure that it has adequate ventilation and that the fans or cooling system are working correctly and are free of dust or dirt.

Macromedia Flash Player

Adobe Flash (previously called Shockwave Flash and Macromedia Flash) is a set of multimedia software created by Macromedia and currently developed and distributed by Adobe Systems. Since its introduction in 1996, Flash has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages; Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, and various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications.

Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics and supports bi-directional streaming of audio and video. It contains a scripting language called ActionScript. Several software products, systems, and devices are able to create or display Flash content, including Adobe Flash Player, which is available for most common web browsers, some mobile phones and other electronic devices (using Flash Lite). The Adobe Flash Professional multimedia authoring program is used to create content for the Adobe Engagement Platform, such as web applications, games and movies, and content for mobile phones and other embedded devices.

Files in the SWF format, traditionally called “ShockWave Flash” movies, “Flash movies” or “Flash games”, usually have a .swf file extension and may be an object of a web page, strictly “played” in a standalone Flash Player, or incorporated into a Projector, a self-executing Flash movie (with the .exe extension in Microsoft Windows). Flash Video (FLV) files have a .flv file extension and are either used from within .swf files or played through a flv aware player, such as VLC, or QuickTime and Windows Media Player with external codecs added.

Flash Video (.flv files) is a container format, meaning that it is not a video format in itself, but can contain other formats. The video in Flash is encoded in H.263, and starting with Flash player 8, it may alternatively be encoded in VP6. The audio is in MP3. The use of VP6 is common in many companies, because of the large adoption rates of Flash Player 8 and Flash Player 9.

Printer Spooler Troubleshooting

A printer spooler queues up print jobs for later printing. This is a great tool if you are dealing with some networking printing machines. It will help the printer to print the pages one by one. Mostly the cheap printers do not have sufficient memory to store all the pages that you are printing. A printer spool with queue everything to be used later.

This service is required if you have printers, even if they are network printers, or use any applications that use the printing sub-system (like PDF converters). If this does not fit your needs, disable it. You will save about 3.8 MB by making this service go away. Your printers will still be “installed” if you disable this service, but not visible in the printers folder. After restarting Print Spooler, they will reappear and be available for use. I place this service into manual mode and only start it up when printing is required. In manual mode, the service will not automatically start at boot time. However, if you do a lot of printing, Automatic is the best bet for convenience.

However, there are some problems that people face when they install and use printer spooler. There is a utility called printer spooler fix wizard which will help you get rid of all the problems that you might face. They claim that you can get rid of Printer Spooler error messages and fix spoolsv.exe service in one click so you can print again with this automated Fix Wizard. The program fixes all known modifications of Printer Spooler errors including “Spooler SubSystem App stopped working and was closed” and spoolsv.exe service infection and corruption and removes several kinds of viruses infecting print spooler, like spoolsv32.exe and spoolssv.exe.

Printer Spooler Fix Wizard will solve your problem both in case it is caused by spyware or virus infection and in case it was caused by the consequence of corrupted registry settings or malfunction of some legitimate Windows components. Additionally, Live Support will help you in fixing Printer Spooler problems in difficult cases.
