Java Crashes

Java crash – An error in executing programs

Java crash is a term used to define a run-time error that occurs whenever a user tries to open a web page that requires Java to execute. As a result, the web browser or mostly Explorer crashes. The only result or remedy for this error is to reinstall or reload Java but it does not proof a useful solution in some cases.

Java crash occurs at random times during the execution of the system’s programs and the work done up to that level is lost and cannot be retrieved. It happens eventually without the prior knowledge of the user. The Web applications such as JIRA and Confluence, etc. are running in a Java virtual machine (JVM) which is mainly responsible for managing the memory, CPU and the devices attached with the system, same as the operating system take care of applications like MS Office, web browsers etc. A JVM crash is visible by getting a characteristic ‘Windows Blue Screen of Death’ while using MS Office or a web browser and occurs when the JVM is running low of the free memory.

The Java crash is an error that occurs in JVM not in the software operating within the system. These crashes are sometimes the result of JDK bugs that can be fixed by installing new JDK version. When this crash happens, it is due to the execution of two threads that are calling VTK C++ calls. These two threads are:

· The main event thread

· The finalizer thread which performs the garbage collection.

For example, see the following call:

vtkPointData t = pointPolyData.GetPointData (); vtkDataArray u = t.GetNormals();

What happens is when the GetNormals function is being processed in the C++ side, then due to some system’s processing reasons, the garbage collector starts thinking that t can be de-allocated to empty the allocated memory locations. So, the finalizer thread deletes it from the main event thread which is actually expecting it to Exists. Therefore, Java crash appears and the program is stopped from running.

Sometimes, the reason for Java crashes is thought to be the use of weak global references (NewWeakGlobalRef and DeleteWeakGlobalRef) as the weak global references do not behave as a real reference. Therefore, the objects get collected in garbage during the thread call to native method. The use of non-weak global references (NewGlobalRef and DeleteGlobalRef) helps to avoid these Java crashes.

i o Device Error 1117

Sometimes due to malfunctioning of hardware devices, a number of errors occur. It is simple to understand that if a certain thing is not being accessed, you will have to see some error against that problem. Same is the case with I o device error 1117. Users have seen this error several times while trying to boot the computer.

The meaning of this sentence is, Input output error and the code is 1117. There are several devices in your computer that are used for input and output purposes. Some of them like flash drives, cache drives and hard drives are used for both input and output services. There are several data cables (data busses) that transfer the data to these devices so that you can perform the read and write operations.

When there are some errors at 1117, that means that there are some problems at the hardware bus level and that needs to be corrected. There is some specific data bus where reading or writing operation is not being done in a timely and required manner. That is why this shows an 1117 error. Some people say that this data access point is blocked or it is a point where there are addresses of sectors are coming from the hard disk that is why it shows the errors. Whatever it is, there is no specific solution for this problem.

I o device errors can be managed with some software if they are not that bad to be recovered. If you are getting this I o error 1117, then the first thing that you can do is that you can connect your hard drive on some other computer to see if it is working perfectly or not. If it shows the same error there also, then there is no error of mother board or data bus, there must be some problem with the sectors of hard disk. Sectors are like lines that are sketched so that data can be written on it. Sectors can be determined just like lines on a notebook.

There are a little chances of recovery when you are dealing with hard disk recovery. There is some software available on the internet that can detect and recover hard disk’s bad sectors, but it is good to replace the hard disk as if you have some important data on the drive, it might be destroyed if the problem occurs again.

When we are talking about computers and software, there are a number of programmers and users who program and use the program in different ways. All of us come to the fantasy of handling problems with the software issues almost once in a month. This article will tell you about how to generally fix the problems that you might face while operating a computer and having issues with software.

Repairing Windows:

A number of errors either due to viruses or malfunctioning of some software arises in the computer that makes the windows operating system not useable. So if this happens to you, or if you are in a fear of having this, you can take some precautionary steps to avoid such problems.

The first thing is to make backup CD or DVD with which you can fix it or repair your own computer. This could be done easily. When your operating system is not working properly or you think that there is a need of getting it fixed, you can just insert the disc into the computer and restart it and follow the simple steps that come to the screen to get it restored. Once you have done this, you can eventually fix your windows.

Other than having a CD or DVD with you, you can also make restore points in your computer. These restore points will actually set your computer and its internal settings to such a position when your computer is working perfectly fine. When you are going to install some software that you do not trust or that can cause some problem to the computer, just make a restore point before you install that. Ultimately doing this will help you to restore your computer from the point where you left it working properly.

Clean / Boost the performance:

You can repair the performance of your computer by fixing its unwanted system files and registry entry. Doing all that manually will need a lot of effort, knowledge and a lot of man work. So all this can be done automatically with the help of free software called CCleaner.

All you have to do is to install this hand software on your system and clean all the temporary system files and flush the cache memory. Do not forget to save your registry entries before you do the cleaning work. If something goes wrong after you have deleted the previous unwanted registry entries, you can restore it to the previous point easily with the help of the backup you made.

Win32 Generic Host

In windows xp, a number of people have faced and they are still facing Win32 Generic Host error. The first reason is that your computer is filled with much kind of viruses that is infecting the computer and one virus is getting over another’s configurations that create even more complexities and as a result Win32 Generic Host error occurs.

So the first thing that you should do is to scan your computer thoroughly for viruses. If you are not able to run antivirus on your computer, then you should start it on safe mood and then try installing the antivirus. This would not be fair to rate just one antivirus good or bad. So when you are looking for virus search and destroy, search internet for antivirus ratings and chose the one with the best feedback and ratings because the tag of good antivirus and virus killers changes frequently. Internet is the biggest source of this kind of software. They might be like a package of a good working program and a spy thread in it, or it might be something like a total file that contains material to spy. If you have downloaded some software from an unsecured website and you think that this would not harm your computer, then you can continue executing it. If the file disappears after running, it is 90% a virus.

Viruses are not the only cause of win32 generic host troubles. A legal DLL file may also cause this. When that dll which has an association with svchost.exe is crashed and you have to restart the system, the win32 generic host errors will occur. In this way, you have to reinstall windows. This is not necessary that you format all of your hard disk and start a fresh copy of windows, but you can also overwrite the existing version of windows. This will replace the corrupted files and if that software does not runs again that caused this problem, the computer would be fine.

If you have just installed some update from windows’ server, this could also be the reason that the update does not match the system requirements or the software that is previously installed in your computer conflicted with that update. This most probably happens in windows xp service pack 2.

That last reason of win32 generic host error is that you have installed some old driver of the hardware issues by hp and those drivers are not computable with the new version of svchost.exe. So, search for the new drivers and the problem might get solved.

Dr. Watson Debugger

Dr. Watson debugger is a screen that is shown in front of the user when there some software of specific software that has caused some error. If you are familiar with assembly language or know a little about that, you should know that there are some value of every program that are being stored in registers, stacks and segments. They have to be accurate when you are switching from one process to another. However, when programs switch and they do some processing, there are some possibilities of getting the values courted. If this occurs, the program might crash and Dr. Watson Debugger screen is shown.

This tells you that some error has occurred in the system and you have to send this error report to the publisher or ask for help. However, when this is shown again and again on the screen, then the users get annoyed with this message.

People start thinking that there is some problem with their operating system or some virus is attacking the computer. This may be due to some virus, but this could also be the result of software not working properly in an organized manner. There are ways with which you can disable Dr. Watson Debugger can be disabled. If you want to disable the debugger, and then keep in mind that the bad function that the program is causing will not be stopped, it will just not show the Dr Watson Debugger window.

On the Microsoft online help center, you can find ways to disable the debugger. If you are not a programmer, this is recommended that you should not try to debug the program. If you do something wrong, then this might cause some problems that are not solve able. So it is good to keep yourself away from the debugger.

In new version of windows like vista, this debugger is disabled by default. Just press the F1 key on the desktop and search for Dr Watson Debugger and you will find how and why this debugger was disabled and how it is changed with new settings on newer versions. Same is the case with windows 7. So this means that the tradition of Dr Watson Debugger was limited to windows XP and if you really want to get rid of this problem, you can change your operating system.

File Extension Bin

There are a number of things that can be associated with the file extension .bin. If you are looking for special software to operate files that are with the file extension .bin, then you should look from where the file has come to your computer.

If you know a little about computers, then you must have known that the files that are saved on computers are written on storage devices like one and zeros. This combination of high or low values makes the computer understand what is written in these files. This is the reason that a number of software uses this file extension and way of storing their data. Possibilities are numberless for the programs to operate these files, because .bin files are basically files that contain binary data. Retrieval and storage of binary data is very easy.

If some file is saved in .doc or any other format, we know that which software has to open that specific kind of file. Since a number of files are saved in the same format called .bin, so it is not that easy to find about the software that has to open that file. This is the reason there is a header on the file that tells the appropriate software to open it. Basically, these files have data stored in it and mostly these files do not have to be opened like regular files.

A number of people are having problems when trying to shutdown windows xp. A number of computers under certain conditions come into this kind of condition and the user is totally confused about what to do and how to resolve the matter. There are a number of reasons due to which this could happen.

New Hardware: Mostly this is seen that people get their computer in this situation when they have installed or plugged some new hardware. If you have also done the same, you might not be installing that hardware correctly. A number of changes occur when you are trying to install the drivers.

APM: Check if APM is enabled or not. This can also make difference when you are trying to shut your computer down. However, some people have seen problem like when they try to shutdown their computer, the computer restarts, and some people have seen their computer hanging while trying to shutdown. So de checks APM when you are facing such problems.

USB Connections: This could also happen if there are some new usb connections made in the computer recently. Unplugging hardware from the usb would be the easiest way to test what is causing the problem. So try to shutdown your computer after unplugging your new usb connection.

Viruses: This is the biggest threat to the computer these days. After the trend of data travelers (usb drives) and usb hard disks, another fashion of auto play virus has been introduced. When you plug in some usb that is infected, it also infects your computer automatically. This virus is very dangerous and can harm your computer in several ways. So get good antivirus software for your computer and scan it thoroughly so that you can remove all security issues from your computer.

Restarting problem:

It has also seen that sometimes people accidentally selects the option of autorestart. It can also be caused due to some virus, but this can be disabled from registry easily. To avoid the BSOD in total and allow the direct “Auto Reboot” aspect, run Regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl

Right click on “AutoReboot”, modify and change the value to 1. Exit, reboot. To disable set the value back to 0.

Antivirus:

The best way to protect yourself from getting into troubles like these are antivirus available. They are not only dangerous for your computer, but they can also be a threat for privacy and security issues.

Bad Pool Caller on Windows XP

Sometimes, people get stuck in some problems and there is apparently no way out. Bad pool caller in windows xp is one of such problems. There are a number of ways due to which this could happen. However, the reason might be the same.

If you have important data in your hard disk, and you are getting this blue screen whenever you are trying to restart the computer, then you might be in a trouble. Most of the times, people do not know about the importance of making different drives and saving their data in those non system drives. If you have also followed the same pattern, then installing your operating system again would not be a big issue in this case. The reason is that you will just have to reinstall the whole operating system by formatting.

If you were not working on partitions and now you want to restore everything when you are getting bad pool caller xp screen, you can make another partition so that you can install operating system on that drive. If you have no idea about how to make another drive, then just leave this idea and buy or borrow a hard disk to install operating system in it. All you have to do is to install you operating system in that hard disk and easily backup your data from that drive to CD or DVD.

Even if this is also showing the bad pool caller error screen, you can start recovery. If you have some sort of booting disk or something else, you can try that as well. Before that, try to boot the system on safe mood and rename the folders windows and program files. This is for sure not the first option, because if the setup detects that the windows folder is removed, it might not boot the system on that copy of windows then.

Even if all these options fail and you are still getting bad pool caller xp screen, then there is something else that you can try in order to get rid of the bad pool caller xp screen. You might have some kind of hardware conflict. Fist of all try to update chipset to macro/56 specifications (this might be different based on your computer’s specifications). Update the system drivers. When you are trying to install windows, disconnect the internet wire (if any). Another way is to know that which hardware is causing this bad pool caller xp error. Try to remove or change that part.

What to do about Runtime Error 91

After encountering the runtime error 91 you will find that there are many things that can cause this error to occur. The runtime error 91 can cause your program to freeze and you may lose your work if it closes before you save your work, or worse, multiple programs can freeze. The runtime error 91 can even cause your computer to become unresponsive, and then it would require a restart.
When the runtime error 91 occurs the first thing you should do is run your virus scan program. This error can sometimes be caused by malicious code on your computer. This code could be what is causing your applications and/or computer to freeze. If this is the case you will need to remove the harmful code quickly. I would suggest running your virus scan frequently. Some virus scans allow you to set a schedule of when you want your computer scanned. Also, make sure to keep your antivirus program up to date so you can be sure to catch the latest viruses as well.
Don’t forget that as long as your computer is connected to the Internet it’s susceptible to many different viruses and other malicious applications such as ad-ware. If you don’t already have an antivirus program take care in choosing the correct one. There are many antivirus programs out there, some free and some cost money. I personally use Avast for my antivirus. It’s totally free and updates itself automatically. I can vouch for the fact that it’s not a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Meaning that it is not malicious code of a virus pretending to be an antivirus program.
Once you have chosen your antivirus program taken these important steps to make sure your computer is completely clean of viruses and malicious code. First make sure your antivirus program is up to date. Also make sure to unplug your network cable when you are not using the Internet. Removing the cable keeps the viruses from making it into your computer, and hackers too. Now start your computer in safe, there are different ways of doing this depending on your operating system. In safe mode a lot of programs do not run, only what’s really necessary to start the computer runs. Now run your virus scan and get rid of any viruses you see. After the all the viruses are gone, you can restart your computer and go into normal mode and see if you are still getting errors.

How to Reinstall Yahoo Messenger

If you have been having problems with your Yahoo! Messenger, such as freezing, slowness, and/or automatic shutdowns, it may be time to try reinstalling the software. This could fix any corrupt files that may be causing the errors you are experiencing. You should start by uninstalling the current version of the messenger from your computer. Be sure to make a backup of your message archive if you wish to save it, as it will be deleted once the program is removed.

To remove the old version of Yahoo! Messenger, be sure the application is not running prior to beginning the uninstall. Open ‘My Computer’ and select the ‘C’ drive. Click ‘Program Files,’ then ‘Yahoo!’ Click the Yahoo! Messenger folder once to highlight it, then press the ‘Delete’ key. Alternatively, you could right click the folder and select ‘Delete’ from the menu.

Note that the ‘C’ drive is the default location for the messenger. If you chose to place it somewhere else on your computer when you initially installed the program, you will need to find it, and delete it from there. Removal can also be done from the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ screen in your Control Panel, which is found in your Start menu.

Now that you have rid your computer of Yahoo! Messenger, you can proceed with reinstalling the software. Be sure no applications are running with the exception of one Internet Explorer (or your preferred Internet browser) window. Visit http://messenger.yahoo.com. Click the ‘Download Now’ button in the middle of the screen. Follow the prompts on the screen to reinstall the software. Select ‘Run’ when it gives you the option to Run or Save. You may want to uncheck the boxes that will make Yahoo! your default search engine or home page. Accept the Terms & Service of Yahoo! Messenger, and the installation should begin. Once complete, your new version of Yahoo! Messenger will be ready for use.

If you created a back-up of your message archive, you will need to locate it once the new messenger software has been installed. Copy the back-up folder, and paste it into the ‘Profiles’ folder in the new Yahoo! Messenger program. The default location for the software would be C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles. This will allow you to access your archives from the Yahoo! Messenger software.

Sometimes, for unknown reasons, Yahoo! Messenger will begin to work unsatisfactorily. Reinstalling the program is often the cure for the errors caused by the program, so a quick update wouldnÕt hurt when you are experiencing problems.
